    Description

    Antique sextant made in England for S Thaxter and Son Boston USA. Thaxter and Son were in business from 1822 until 1919. Unverified this sextant is believed unique in that it is of a special order made in England for Thaxter and Son to be sold in North America.
    Of unknown age. Navigation accuracy unkown. Sold as is.
    All shades appear perfect with the green round lens sitting looser than the other two. The index mirror shows minor degradation.  Comes with two eyepieces. One eyepiece noted to have a minor chip along glass edge. Case appears original to instrument and contains adjusting pick. Label inside case 'Nautical Instruments KELVIN-WHITE CO Boston-New York. Intitials GWW stamped on front of case. Bottom of case covered with non original particle board.
